who?
I went to Saint
Joseph French College for Boys.
In 1992, I attended Marmara
University Film TV Dept. in Istanbul.
I made three short films during four years.
My
first short "The Watchman" won 3rd Prize in
5th Ankara National Video Festival in 1993.
The next year the Turkish Ministry
of Culture sponsored my script "The Tree". The
film has been a great success in 1995: "The Tree" had "Best Film" awards in three major national film festivals in Turkey.
In late 1994, I began to work in advertising films
market with IFR as assistant
director. I also edited several ads and music videos
on Avid and supervised computer
graphics on Flame. In June
1995, I made my first 35 mm. short film co-produced by myself, Yonca
Erturk and IFR: "I want to Fly". The film
has been screened for three weeks in Beyoglu Theater-Istanbul and in
KinoTraumstern/Lich Germany. I graduated with this
film in 1995.
Between
1999 and 2006, I worked at Istanbul
Bilgi University Film TV Department as a full time lecturer.
"Simulacra" my short film is awarded in 24th Clermont Ferrand Short Film
Festival in 2002, 1st AFM Independent Film Festival and 4th Cine5 National
Short Film Competition and had the "Best Digital" award in Kinofilm's
Manchester International Short Film Festival
in 2005 I translated world famous editor Walter Murch's "In The Blink of An Eye" into Turkish. The book is published by Bilgi Publications.
Bored with low academic standarts of Turkey, I quit teaching in February 2006 in order to pursue my career in filmmaking. I directed a TV pilot named "Ecinniler"
In 2006 I edited a 104 min. feature film "Gen" directed by Togan Gokbakar produced by Tiglon. I had "The Best Editing" award with this film in 13. Adana National Film Festival.
I still work as a freelance director for advertising films in İstanbul.
in 2007 I finished writing my first book named "Digital Video and Cinema" containing more than 400 original graphics and photographs and covering basics of filmmaking in this new digital era. It is published by Pusula. |
