Why Did We Do it?

it is just an experiment for the preservation of short films in Turkey
and the proof of quality degradation of analog editing systems versus digital.
Plus by the time of the original editing betacam decks had only 2 ch of audio.
Now we have 8 channels...

Following is the explanation of the digital remastering:

the image from the original edited betacam master
(hi8 footage was transferred to betacam in 1994
and edited on linear betacam system using s-video connections.
above is the result of the second generation image)

the image after the digital remastering process
(the original hi8 tapes are digitized to Avid by firewire
from a D8 camera - thanks to Alp Korfali -
and re-edited. there is virtually no quality loss)

Synopsis:
This is a 8 minute long road movie...The young couple is coming back from vacation. The man is anxious about the dream he had last night...

The film has a simple theme: The meaning of a tree in human life. We always make plans, we all live in something called future that doesn't exist. There is no future. There is now, there is here and there is death. We have to learn to see things. Sometimes it can be a lonely tree on the roadside...
